U B Safe Now

Kate is from Sydney, Australia, and fell in love with running in 2012 when she decided, for no particular reason that she can remember, to run a marathon. That one goal turned into a love affair with running that keeps her sane during the day, and fuels the blog at night.

With my orange hair and freckles I definitely need one of those but I don’t think it would stop me half way through a run either. I imagine I could attach it to the kids – I would be freaking out the whole time! I tend to exercise early and wear a hat and cream in the sun otherwise:)

Wow I’ve never heard of a U-B-Safe 1! I love the concept! Great job on getting faster girl!!!

I’ve never heard of a device like that, and I can see how it could be really helpful to have…but I’m with you on this one. I’m not just gonna stop running because this little machine is beeping at me. I didn’t stop running when I fell and ripped open my elbow and knee, I didn’t stop running when my toe nail fell off and I didn’t stop running when it randomly started to downpour (probably all stupid moves on my part, but whatever.)

    Stubbornness for the WIN.

I have never heard of the U-B-safe either! Interesting and I live in Florida, so I would love to get one for me and my son. Very scary the damage that sun can do! Great job on your running!!! #holycrap Love ya chica!

What an awesome device if for nothing else but to educate us about how much sun really is too much. I try to wear sunscreen but judging by the colour of my shoulders compared to my stomach I know I get a load more sun than I probably should. I love that science is being used for prevention and not just cure.. now all we need to do is make them fashionable!!! :P

lots to cram in here! 1) YAY u’re back…i missed u! 2) bwaahaha…ummm, i’m in the neurotic runner camp and to totally brutally honest, that thing could be blasting a foghorn at me and i wouldn’t stop for UV rays. just keeping it real…not that i’m saying it’s the ‘sane’ way to be. 3) WAY TO GO on getting faster…so proud of u!!

finally, as to the non-eating thing. here is wat i’ve gathered over the years: personally i like eating a lot at night and running on an empty stomach in the morning. i’m too lazy to get up earlier to eat and my stomach is notoriously finicky. BUT i know for a fact that when i was doing ‘real’ training and hard workouts it’s important to eat prior to a hard workout or long run. so i’d always eat beforehand…now that i’m slow and it doesn’t really matter i run sans foodage, but i do believe the ‘smarter/better’ option in terms of performance is to get some kind of fuel in you.

What was your goal for January? I was vacationing for all of January. I did run/walk my 1/2 marathon.
    Have you achieved it? Yeap!
Would you use the U-B-Safe-1? That sounds like a great device. I am definitely not outside that much here, but maybe in the future. That sounds like an awesome device.
How do you protect yourself from the sun? When I am outside, I wear a hat.

Go Liz! Congrats on getting through the half. I am going to be catching up as much as I can on your bog tomorrow!

First of all, I’m SO pumped to see that you’re getting faster. Keep up the awesome work!
My goal for January was to get into the pool 3x a week, which I’ve done.
As for sun protection, I slather on sunscreen and I always wear either a hat or a visor and sunglasses. I’m getting up there in years (42 is coming fast!) and I am trying to hang on to my youthful looking skin for as long as possible. :D

Oh dear… I should probably have one of those, as I need to be so careful in the sun, but I’m afraid to know!
Congrats on seeing speed improvement, that’s always encouraging!
