The Colour Run

Kate is from Sydney, Australia, and fell in love with running in 2012 when she decided, for no particular reason that she can remember, to run a marathon. That one goal turned into a love affair with running that keeps her sane during the day, and fuels the blog at night.

Looks like you had fun!!! In all honesty I have never heard of the Colour Run (I will spell it my own way too) before. I am pretty OC and would have timed the run myself, worked out the calories and uploaded to Strava – lol – it probably wasn’t for me:) My favourites colours are orange and green, but I love all bright colours and when I paint there is always a lot of colour and thick paint.

It was fun! Though difficult for a neurotic runner. My group were teasing me about chips and watches at the start line (there were none). I may well not be your cup of tea, and it definitely has to be done with friends, but man it was fun.

Glad you added the U! Incorrect spelling is one of my pet peeves (grrrr)! Looks like you had a blast! My friend Mandie has done the Colour Run a couple of times and I would totally sign up for it if they come to England!

My favourite colour is GREEN – it makes me happy ;)

I have run an untimed 5k, unknowingly! It was a charity race in October and also my first ever trail race – I forgot to start my runmeter until about 2 minutes after we started, so my time was out and they didn’t time you when you crossed the finish line! I was disappointed because it was only my second ever race and I wanted to see if my time had improved – oh well!

      I knew you’d get it!

Green is cool, but re is better ;-) . Oh no, I hate it when our gadgets don’t work. So, so not cool.

  • Kayla

My favorite is green! I’m glad that you had such a blast – I haven’t done the color run yet!

Loving those green compression socks you found!

I wonder why they wouldn’t spell it correctly–my guess is they imported the shirts from the US. Anyway, looks like it was fun! I tried to do the Colour Run here last year but it sold out in about an hour.

    • Kate

Oh no! I missed the first round actually – I had to go on a waiting list.

And re the ‘u’, I think it’s a trade-mark thing. But I’m going to continue grumbling anyway :-)

I’ve heard that race is a lot of fun and the sole reason to do it. I don’t know of anyone who has tried to PR it? (is that even possible to race race it?). I don’t know. To answer your question though I grew up in England in Northampton (relatively close to London). All my relatives live on the Orkney Islands above Scotland though now so we visit from time to time.

I’m doing a Color Run too. Untimed. Not even thinking of it as a race, I am just thinking of it as a fun way to enjoy running and I plan on prancing through Color like a squealing little girl. Glad to hear it was fun!

That’s the best way to do it! When is yours?

  • Nancy guillery

I’ve heard about these colour races inthe past….something I definitely want to try this summer in Montreal!! Looks like so much fun!

    • Kate

If you can – do it! But get in quick, they deem to sell out super fast.

haha…those things kinda freak me out! i’m pretty dang sure i would choke to death, even tho u assured me that u did choke on color dust and ARE in fact still alive, i still dunno…lol. but anything with a ‘hell yes’ repeat answer certainly makes me think twice…

    • Kate

Haha! I loved your twitter comment on this. I answer many things with ‘hell yes’ though. Hell yeah!

  • Amy

The colour run sounds like so much fun! I can’t wait for it to come to Brisbane; I’ve already pre-registered :) An untimed race is good sometimes because it takes the pressure off and you can just settle back and enjoy the beauty of the run and the fun of being out and sweaty with lots of other people :)

You’re going to love it! You’re right that it takes the pressure off. I think I’m just itching for a race at this point!

  • Liz

I would love to do a color run. I would love to do one in the future. Looks like you had a great time. :)
