On Running Slowly

On Running Slowly

Kate is from Sydney, Australia, and fell in love with running in 2012 when she decided, for no particular reason that she can remember, to run a marathon. That one goal turned into a love affair with running that keeps her sane during the day, and fuels the blog at night.

Hi. I lost a shed load of weight which then led me to start running. My goal has been to run a marathon and next year I am in the Brighton marathon here in England. Further more my goal was to run a marathon when I am 50. Best of luck to you.

Nice goal! Which month is the marathon? Can you keep us updated?

      Do you have a site?

So I am going to come to Australia and run with you to fulfill this goal. By run, I mean hobble, and you will definitely be the faster one. Great message Kate! <3

I run with faster people and slower people, honestly it takes all of us to accomplish our goals because my speedy friends are helping me get faster during our track workouts, but I love running with slower people and just enjoying the run and trying to inspire them too :) . I get a huge mental burst out of that and think it actually helps me in the long run.

I love that too! I’m far worse when it comes to pushing myself to keep up. I imagine it would be amazing to run with you – you just look so happy in al of your end of race shots!

About 4 weeks ago I got chatting to a runner who was much faster… He slowed, I speed up. He enjoyed 10 minutes of easy while I spent 10 minutes in struggleville trying to keep up and pant out the occasional word in between. I loved it and thought it would be fantastic to have a friend to pace you like that and vice versa to pace/push someone in return. No better motivation than the old “keep up”!!! :=)
