Here’s to New Beginnings, and to Loving the Shit out of Busy

About

Kate is from Sydney, Australia, and fell in love with running in 2012 when she decided, for no particular reason that she can remember, to run a marathon. That one goal turned into a love affair with running that keeps her sane during the day, and fuels the blog at night.

I have been a horrible blog reader as of late so I can’t comment on any funny posts. Now that things are quieter I should be able to get back to reading. I am still loving running. August was so stinking busy I didn’t get much running in so I actually missed it. I also have a big race coming up in October so my training is starting to ramp up and I’m really enjoying it.

I raced this weekend, my friend and I did the Pancake Run 5K in Mt. Pleasant, SC. It was fun, she did the 10K and I did the 5K, I really just ran it not raced since I am doing a full marathon (my first) this weekend. I’m glad your business is doing well and growing and you’re working with the kids. Don’t worry too much about running, your motivation will come back soon enough and sometimes it helps to take some time off.

When you lose your mojo I feel it is best to take some time off. Do other things you like and then come back to it feeling refreshed.
And #holycrap – from 2 kids to that many! Way to kill it on the business side of things.

I am loving running lately. Not loving the soggy shorts, soaked socks, and sweat-in-my-eyes-constantly, but whatever. That’s what happens on the equator. Thanks to some ultra-marathon training, I suddenly had the following thought this morning, “Gosh. 20 miles to train for a marathon actually seems kinda short!” Relativity is a crazy thing.

But when you lose your running mojo, it’s good to take time off, keep things relaxed, let go of super scheduling – whatever it takes to get it back. Because running should be a release, a joy, and something you look forward to – not a chore (most of the time).

Congrats on the business growth – that’s freakin’ amazing! If you ever want to add some “Business With Kate” next to “Run With Kate”, I’d totally be down with that, and would gobble up what you have to say! [As someone who's walking the small business path herself, and although has been doing all right, certainly hasn't achieved 3500% growth in the last 9 months!]

Oh my goodness – and same goes. I feel like if you stop learning it’s all over! Teach me right back :-)

As if our lives weren’t busy enough, it seems like this should be a totally different forum: A Forum/ Community of (Female?) Entrepreneurs Starting Small Businesses. Support, brainstorming, suggestions, ideas, etc.

Actually, I’m sure they exist. I just haven’t had the time (the time? the time? WHERE does the time go???) to find them…

Business is going gang-busters! Congrats on the growth. It sounds like you are working so hard but it will all be worth it when Empire Kate can run itself!
I know about disappearing mojo… I could barely think of running for a while there. But Jeepers for someone with no mojo you still rock a course!
I lurrrrrrrrrved watching Sydney and it has totally moved up my “to run” list. The only thing that worried me was the heat. It looked nice for half but the 1.5 hour later start time for the marathon had those guys in the full sun – I would so melt! Such a softie – I know.
Can’t wait for race recap :=) those are my favourite posts!

    • Kate

You are such a star Jenelle – something about your comments AND posts just always makes me smile (even sitting here still feeling a bit deathly ;-) ).

  • Kierston

Congrats on the growth of your business! Proud of you! I lost my running mojo for a while too…it’s back now and I’m loving it! :)

    • Kate

      Go Kierston! That’s amazing.
