Alex the Fit Nut

About

Kate is from Sydney, Australia, and fell in love with running in 2012 when she decided, for no particular reason that she can remember, to run a marathon. That one goal turned into a love affair with running that keeps her sane during the day, and fuels the blog at night.

Nice to meet you Alex. I hated running before I really gave it a chance. My first 1/2 will be in about a week. :)

Love Alex!! super inspiring, fun girl! :)

I do hate running.. hehe. Trying to like it, but it’s a struggle. It makes me feel SO out of shape! Goal for 2013 is to improve on my running, with running as little as possible ;)

I’d love to be featured in the future!

Hey Jennifer! Good luck with the running. I think you have o enjoy it to want to do it…but it takes a while to enjoy it! Looking forward to seeing how it pans out for you.

Yes, I like the half marathon. I think it is a great distance for those of us who are not natural-born runners but want to run longer distances than 5k or 10k.
I definitely used to hate running until I fixed my messed up septum that didn’t let me breathe through my nose.

I ran my first half last September. I was really surprised in the end that I did it – I was pretty slow (~2:28), but I didn’t hate it and want to do it again next year

I don’t hate running – I like it, but I’ve been doing it for a long time :-)

That’s awesome! It’s not a bad time at all. I love the fact that you want to go for it again.

Hi – I love the way Alex breaks up her training with yoga and rest days – so important and a good way to prevent injuries. Wish I could be so disciplined.

    • http://www.alextriesitout.com Alex @ Alex Tries it Out

      Hi Robyn!

I used to not be so good at it either, but after hearing so many horror stories from people who injured themselves I just made myself do it! Although it def helps that yoga turned out to be a lot of fun :) .

LOL with the Camelbak chaffing… THIS is why I use the Camelbak flash flo – it goes around your waist! :)

Way to go Alex with your finding the running love! I found it in 2012 too and got hooked. I looooove the bond you feel with other runners too and the community centered around running. Definitely helps you keep the love even on the tough days!

Hey Alex! Thanks for sharing your story. Good luck with your running goals for 2013!

Kate – Ouchieeeeees! I will refrain from making a joke about that “carpet burn” on your back ;) No seriously Chafe sucks and who thinks about the camelbak as a potential chafe monster!?!?! Hope it heals quickly. Still I reckon that 19km run was totally worth it!!!

You totally should! Even if you’re not a runner. There were a ton of people there just ‘playing’ if that makes sense?

      Good luck!

I’m also wondering if the Energybits really have organic spirulina in it? I actually haven’t tried it. Just Whey Protein, before and after my training. :)

    • http://www.runwithkate.com Kate

I love protein – but I haven’t had powder in ages. Hmm. ‘m curous about energybits too. They haven’t made it to Australia yet, but I’m keeping an eye out!

    • http://alextriesitout.com Alex @ Alex Tries it Out

Misty, yes, they do have organically grown spirulina. I love my bits, and highly recommend them!

I like them so much, I’ve recently become an ambassador for them. Let me know if you have any other questions! If you want to try them, I have a 20% discount code for you to use: TRYITOUT.
